MARCEL TOURNIER – Vol. 3,

Intermediate Pieces for Solo Harp

MARCEL TOURNIER (1879-1951), a pivotal figure in harp history, created nearly 100 published works during his lifetime. Harpist Carl Swanson discovered numerous unpublished manuscripts, including these Déchiffrages. Working with renowned harpist Catherine Michel, Swanson has meticulously prepared these pieces for publication, adding fingerings, pedal markings, tempos, and performance directions.

Written in Tournier's twenties, before his signature impressionistic style emerged, these pieces reflect the late 19th-century romantic tradition taught at the Paris Conservatory. These short, intermediate-level compositions by a master composer significantly expand the repertoire available to developing harpists.

Here’s what’s inside.  Have a look and listen!

Our students (at the Camac Academy) really enjoyed all your editions, particularly the
Déchiffrages collections. These scores represent admirable work and an indispensable
contribution to the knowledge that every harpist should have of the harp repertoire, its
historical context, and the annotations that you share so generously.
